dave dix
Hi, can you use a DT250 piston in a twin shock ty250 (1975) ? as they seem to have the same bore/stroke and small end Dave
scorpa250
From memory they do fit but i think you have to file the rear skirt of the piston to clear the crank flywheels. Scorpa250.

feetupfun
Its the TY250 monos that need the piston skirt trimmed depending on what piston is used. The twinshock TY250 can use the DT250 piston of the same era without modification. Yamaha and Wiseco DT/MX250 (and probably other brands too but I haven't tried them) pistons work fine in TY250 twinshocks.
dave dix
Thanks feetup, i thought they would work but its always best to ask. Dave
alan_nc
If you check the Yamaha web site their software will let you look up any Yamaha bike/part. The DT and TY's of the same year have the same number for the piston. I'm making this installation at the moment. Alan
