razor
Old-ish one with the rotax engine. I think 1998 ish. It kicks up alright, but as it starts to warm up it will not tickover, or if you increase the slide-stop to the point where it will tick over, when you rev it it revs its nuts off and does not drop back to idle quickly at all. Seems lean, the idle mixture screw does not make much difference that I can figure.
yorkie_chris
Mine has same problem. Symptoms of a blocked pilot jet, but I have cleaned carb out and it is still messing around.
stork955
Air leak in the inlet manifold? The choke would mask this symptom when starting, and as you turn the choke off it goes leaner. Worth a look anyway. HTH Cheers, Stork
yorkie_chris
I'm almost certain that is not problem with mine, I took the manifold part off and checked the reeds, reassembled with a little RTV sealant on the joint. No change to issue. Only other thing I can think of is the rubber on the airbox, but this looks fine.
yorkie_chris
P.s mine is a 96 with the dellorto carb with the 100 size main jet (last model with dellorto AFAIK) Got the carb all apart now, the airbox had quite a lot of nastiness in it, probably something to do with it... stork955
Gday, the only other air leak issue that you might have is a leak from the magneto side crank seal. If the gearbox one leaks you get heaps of smoke and lowering oil level in the box. The maggy side one just leaks air when shot. If your carb/airbox cleans dont solve it look here next. Often you can see dirt sitting around the seal when the stator is removed if this seal leaks, but not always... You would have to remove the flywheel and stator (probably) to see clearly. A leakdown test will show it up if you have the gear to do this test. Cheers, Stork
yorkie_chris
It's loads better now I have got all the sand out of the airbox and cleaned carb out! Still running hot though, radiator has loads of orrible crap in it. Previous owner had not used any antifreeze. Melon. Anyone got a favourite radiator flushing mixture?
