montman Posted February 18, 2009 Report Share Posted February 18, 2009 The drain plugs are really soft metal. Mine rounded off the first time I drained when the bike was new. After trying two different Vise-Grips, several Pliers, chisel/hammer and several more things I welded a nut to the oil plug. Pretty brutal approach. The trick to avoid heating the aluminum cases was to weld for only a second at a time and cool in between with water.
