hop blip and a jump Posted February 21, 2009 Report Share Posted February 21, 2009 My friend bought a nice 03 sy 250 last week, but it seems to be smoking a lot when hot or cold!! he said its using a lot of petrol too, i thought it might be the exhaust saturated with 2 stroke oil, but he thinks it might be the rings???? any ideas before we strip it??? Your friend should be using 80:1 full synthetic. Have him get a carbon fiber exhaust guard and then have him run the pi$$ out of it. The exhaust will get very hot (boot burning hot). Had this happen to my 03 SY many times when learning to ride (still can"t ride very well). I never opened the throttle even to clean the bike out.
