shercoman2k8
Well, as the title really, I've been wondering about workshop necessities... What do I need? Fed up of borrowing the old mans tools... what do I need in the way of tools, oils, lubricants, nuts, bolts, washers and anything else? I know the important stuff but I'm interested to what you all reccomend? Please give a quality make/brand but good value, dont want them breaking or not doing there job properly, so yeah, shoot away people... Cheers in advance, Jamie

scorpa4banger
just remember you don't need the best quality tools all the time if you get a good socket set and some good spanners that wont rust with a couple of good shifters you cant go wrong you can also save a lot of trouble just by washing your bike with the proper bike wash and blow it off with a compressor I guess the more you do to keep it out of the garage the less money you need to spend on tools to fix it .. pete_scorpa3
Excellent list there Scorpa4, the piece of equipment that I find the most handy is a small compressor with a tyre inflator, an impact gun and a trigger nozzle. It's also suprising how often I use my small mig welder and an angle grinder. Not really for repairing the bike, but for making or adapting tools or jigs. dan williams
Dremel tool. Indispensable Big fire extinguisher. You won't need it until you NEED it. Set of combination wrenches. i.e. box on one side open end on other. Add extras of the most used like 10mm, 13mm, and 17mm Set of T-handle allen wrenches. Set of angle allen keys Set of 3/8 in sockets. Add deep sockets for most used sizes. Two 3/8 inch fine tooth ratchets. 1/2 inch ratchet. Set of 3/8 inch ratchet extensions. Phillips head socket. Annoying but useful. Angle/swivel socket thingy. Can't remember what it's called. Screwdriver set. Hammer. Tire plug kit. 3/8 and 1/2 inch breaker bar. 1/2 inch sockets for big nuts on bike. Axle, steering stem... Did I mention fire extinguisher?

shercoman2k8
Ive got a wolf-air compressor, really good quality and will last for ages if you bleed the tank of moisture every week or two! Had my own for about 5 years and never had problems... Cant find the same model now but if you search around you should be able to find one, aim for a max pressure of around 130-150 psi, plenty enough for the bikes!
