Hi all,

New to the forum and I am looking to return back to trials after 18 years (I used to ride a Yamaha 200 Magesty). I wouder if anyone can help! I went to watch a local trial event to try and get some info on the bikes I am looking at (considering a gas gas 250 or beta 250 98-2002) anyway one guy said try not to buy anything older than a 2001 model because they have made some major changes to both bikes and a second opinion I had was not buy a 2002 gas gas as they are prone to loads of touble. I am very confused and would appreciate any advice.

Cheers,

Neil.

Welcome to TC and back to world of trials..

Its time to put your hand in your pocket and spend...

The newer the bike the better. If you are going to buy an older modle then its all about condidtion..

Stay away from from any of the bigger cc bikes as they can be a real hand full in sections.

Cheers Mike...

The 2002/2003 Gas Gas TXT250 was a really well sorted bike, the ones to avoid are the Pro's of the same years.

Of course, the more money you spend, the better bike you get, however it is always best to buy by condition. A mint well looked after 1999 Beta Techno would be a better bike than a totally thrashed, abused and worn out 2005 Beta Rev3.

For example, Scorpa SY250's have only had subtle updates each year and a 2001 rides very similar to a 2008, so if you found a mint older one it could pay off!

Buy by condition.

When you see a bike that you fancy, it's a good idea to come back on here and post the year and model, you will soon get a list of good/bad points that the model suffers from. :D
