wallace
Yamaha Dude....No offence meant and none taken......tongue firmly in cheek at the time Still having a bitch of a time with this rear tyre saga though. Took the tyre off again and removed all the duck tape and rim rubbers to find inner part of the rim is seriously corroded. Previous owner had put car body filler and duck tape over the spoke ends to try and smooth it off. I sanded it all off and coated the inside of the rim with two pack resin and a new rim tape. The spokes are all tight so I should have a replacement wheel by the time they need any work. Putting the tyre back on for the third time I nipped the tube. The wired part of the bead is now looking decidedly weakened and out of shape. I,m having a very bad day Should have went fishing
bikespace
Right - All sorted - nearly. Tyre off again, kitchen sealant on all the spokes, vaseline coated on the rim tape, forced it in to the grooves, tyre inflated to 70lb. One spoke leaking slightly. Will leave it overnight to see how it goes. I reckon it may be OK. The tyre beader is now one of the best things I have bought. Just need that two inches cutting out and glueing back together. Goes on in minutes every time now.
marky g
Interesting point about Mont wheels though. Is there any draw backs on them? Seems really sensible to me, having the spokes that way. It's just that Mont/Honda quality thing again I guess boofont they thought about it a bit I guess you get what you pay's for
wallace
Finally got the rear tyre sorted and had a 2.5 hr run round the farm and quarry. Having not ridden a trials bike in 20 odd years I had forgotten how much fun it is, particularly when the bike is running well. its a nice sunny day, and there's acres of mud, glorious mud to play in. I reckon I,ve wasted 20 years of my life not having a bike.
