simonhod Posted March 22, 2009 Report Share Posted March 22, 2009 i have a aprilia climber 240 have had it for about 5 months now and had no problems wth it till now. The bike was running fine then it just cut out took plug out to see if it was sparking and no spark so i changed the plug and it worked for about a hour and then the same no spark with new plug so i got another plug and that is sparking. any one know what could be causeing this to happen also dose anyone know what spark plug should be in a climber 240......................... thanks simon Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
lineaway Posted March 23, 2009 Report Share Posted March 23, 2009 I always used NGK. stock should have been bp7es, but we always ran bp5es at altidude. You might remove the flywheel cover.(right hand side) And check too see if the flywheel has any play. The main bearings where always a culprit of timing issues. the batt Posted March 23, 2009 Report Share Posted March 23, 2009 Have ridden a few of these in my time. The problem is if you knock the fly wheel cover on a rock, it moves & causes the stator to rub on the fly wheel. This over heats the stator & damages the windings. So you have a spark until it heats up, then loses the spark. Only cure is to replace the stator or have it repaired. Hope this helps you. If they are wet and black looking, there is a fouling issue which may be caused by Air filter or Carb. Always make sure you are using the correct plug, 2 strokes last seconds with the wrong one fitted! It is really important. Check it out and let us know.
