pete_scorpa3
The Stourbridge club returned to Howards Wood near Kidderminster for the first time in ten years on Saturday and laid out a superb ten section course on the steep tree lined banks in the wood. Always trusted to provide a sensible course, scores looked set to be on the low side until a black cloud appeared on the horizon and hail stones started to fall. After just a few minutes the storm passed leaving the ground covered in ice. As the hail stones started to thaw, the sections became altogether more difficult. Indeed a number of off-cambered banks that had been no trouble a few minutes earlier were next to impossible. I suspect that the winner of the trial will be the person who completed the most sections before the storm as it certainly was 'a trial of two halves' my lap scores went: Lap 1: Four Lap 2: One Hail stones Lap 3: Thirty Three Lap 4: Thirty Typically no sooner than the damage had been done, the sun came back out and the afternoon was restored to perfect weather. Thanks very much to Jeff Wells and the Stourbridge team for providing us with yet another excellent trial and the observers who stood at their posts during the heavy down-pour. I'll post the results when they come in. Pete
