Urgent Help Needed, because of upcoming trial. Any help, Greatly Appreciated. YD Richard Longstaff GD
charliechitlins
Look closely at the cover of your master cylinders, and even on your old levers. They will say AJP. That should be the right lever.
bikespace
Looks Good - Yes.
charliechitlins
Although....I think that's a long lever. You might want a "shorty". They stay farther from the end of the bars and are less prone to breakage.
beta boy
those are the apico ajp relica levers i got em but the shorty version there are two down sides to them though. 1.they are like glass they snap easy so keep your master cylinders a bit lose so it can move when you fall 2. they come in this crapy goldy finish that looks out of place but for the money there good
trials lad
Hmmmm They look like the right leavers but I dont think the acu allow youth riders to use short leavers but im not completely sure about this ill have to look in the acu handbook. d. sileo
I've never saw a World Class rider with "shorty" levers on his /her bike. I feel the long lever have a bit more leverage allowing me for better clutch control...But I suck so pick the one you like best and go ride......D
bikespace
I must admit I've thought about using shorties a few times. I bent my original AJP lever so that the ball was bent round almost 180 degrees (fell off not an intentional bend). It was just enough to get my finger in it, and felt great although looking a bit of a mess. If we're going to use one finger on the clutch why do we have a lever that fits 4 fingers? Surely you get more movement if the end of the lever isn't jamming up against the other fingers on the bar? A decompressor lever would do me. Just a thought - anybody any views on this? mikeid
I noticed in '03 that Jarvis was running long levers on his Sherco in some pictures posted to TC. Would have liked to have queried him about his preferences on the longer ones versus the shorties that were/are stock. I do think it's easier to dink a longer lever up, but you can minimize that by moving it inwards as a previous poster mentioned. However, don't you sorta end up with a shorty lever by doing so? neonsurge
If the top guys all use longer levers, I'd guess it something to do with the additional leverage (and therefore reduced effort and hand/wrist fatigue) that they provide. I wonder if there's anything more to it than that? Edited November 1, 2004 by neonsurge
boofont
My SY came with short levers as standard, and they

Wow look at this extra smiley andy has put on :pumpkin: :pumpkin: :pumpkin:... WOW! Anywho i use two or even three fingers on my clutch, but its still an improvment on the yam where i had to use all four!
overthehill
I used to have a triumph twin that needed two hands to work the clutch - think yourself lucky!
charliechitlins
Shorty levers, you say? I made this for my son so I could set the lever close enough for his small hand, but he can now pull it right to the grip and get full clutch disengagement. Works great, and I doubt it will ever break. I'm using a pair on my bike...got tired of breaking levers!
