cota kid
According to rankings published on the Todotrial website, Doug Lampkin is the best trials rider in the history of the sport. The rankings are determined by number of WTC wins, second place, third etc. It only really confirms what we all thought all along. benbeta23
Dougie was seriously good back in his day, but god now you can't even get close to comparing him to bou. Dougie has had his time now.
kickstart101
If we are talking about the greatest ever i think it has to be between Lampkin, Tarres and Sammy Miller, Prehaps hard to compare Dougie and Sammy as we are talking about different era's but in the modern day dougie's record speaks for itself. 99 World Outdoor Wins / 36 Indoor 7 World Outdoor Championships 5 World Indoor Championships 1 European Championship 3 Scottish Six Days Trial Wins 7 British Trials Championships 2 Spanish Outdoor Championships 3 Trial de Nations Wins 8 Sheffield Indoor Wins Cant argue with that can you. doogzie
dougie lampkin only wins events like the six day trails because of his minders if he didnt have them he wouldnt be able to do anything
yamahaty250xox
I dont believe that for a second . I think when you compare the riding styles of Dougie and Bou, Dougie is soooooooooo much smother. His bike is 100% planted. Max

kickstart101
dougie lampkin only wins events like the six day trails because of his minders if he didnt have them he wouldnt be able to do anything could any rider survive sometimes with out a minder, not just doug? I think this thread was started to discuss is Dougie the greatest trials rider ever, not the best current rider, Yes Mr Bou stands head and shoulders above everyone rite now, much as doug did 10years ago. We will have to wait until Toni retires to see just how much he has achieved in his career to compare him to doug.

atomant
Bou is the best trials rider ever (based on pure trials riding skill). Lampkin, is the greatest trials rider ever based on championship wins.

Each of these riders were the best of there time, no doubt 20 years time we will be calling another group of youngsters the greatest of all time. baldilocks
We have discussed all this before CK so whats the point of raising it again ? Yes Dougie may have won the most outdoor WTC rounds but in his prime most WTC rounds were two day events so he could potentially win twice as many. Not taking anything away from Doug who has been absolutely fantastic.

Not taking anything away from Doug who has been absolutely fantastic. You might not have noticed it, but a lot of topics get repeated on these forums, what's the best boots to buy? Where can I go practicising? etc etc etc. The rankings on Todotrial in general, are very interesting and a good topic worthy of further discussion, if there was no point in raising it why are you responding? The rankings are not just about championship wins its about seconds, thirds, etc. But no matter which way you massage the statistics, E.g. WTC round winds, WTC points, you would still get Doug at the top. Edited April 3, 2009 by Cota Kid
