gazzaecowarrior
The 30year old manual suggests using 10/30 fork oil and 126cc in each leg. Does anybody use 5wt oil or any other weight ? Only asking as I use 5wt in my Beta and it would save me a lot of money if I use the same in both. Does anybody use the 120mm air gap principal (spring out) rather than measuring 126cc of oil. feetupfun
Yes I use the 125mm oil height method 5WT for oil is too light for those forks (they are not cartridge forks) 15WT or 20WT is more likely to be what you want
subanator
Yes 5wt is too light, my bike just kept topping out all the time over rough ground, very annoying, as the front end gets skitterish. I prefer the 10wt to slow the damping rate up now.
gazzaecowarrior
Thanks guys. Just bought some 10/30 oil. Feels pretty good but the forks arent on he bike yet. I am doing a full restoration of the bike from the front end bacwards and the forks were first. Gareth

gazzaecowarrior
Sorry, meant SAE 10w/30. Works fab. Can't wait to get the rest of the bike rebuilt now.
