b40rt
Was looking on ebay and saw this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BSA-B40-350cc-TRIALS...A1%7C240%3A1318 What have they done to the right casing ? Says Rex Gaunt ignition, how does that work ?
woody
The original points would have been on the right side but the Rex Caunt ignition replaces them and is on the clutch side, like a PVL so it's unaffected by the right side casing being chopped back. b40rt
Thanks Woody.Very practical mod, but not very pretty. How much smaller is a PVL system than the standard Lucas generator? I've seen some B40's with a much slimmer cover on the left than my one. This would be quite a athsetically pleasing mod. The PVL goes in place of the generator and doesnt need a battery ? Are the old covers interchangeable with the later one ? charlie prescott
Hi Guy'. I would say that it is a nice piece of 5 or 6 mm dural plate and a crafty pruning of the alloy casting .Note that the clutch arm has be extended, and i would think that there was spacers or modified shafts in some way too. Nice job though and very inventive like the man was. he will be missed. Regard's Charlie.
