jwc
Hi, I've got a new '09 4rt (Repsol). I had my first good 20 minute ride today. I noticed the fan never came on (I was mostly in first gear going through trees slowly, 20C outside). Is this normal? I kept watching it expecting it to come on. Also, I notice when it sits after riding that one of the (vent?) tubes drips a few drops of oil - is this normal? Thanks Edited April 22, 2009 by jwc
big john
I would have said at that temperature the fan should have come on by then. When you say drips a little oil is it blue? If so it could be anti-freeze as there is a breather from the coolant cap down to just under the front exhaust pipe and that would put out expanded coolant as these bikes unlike cars don't have an expansion tank. Some people mistake this for oil as the coolant has an 'oily' feel to it, but its bright blue in colour. I would get it checked by your supplying dealer assuming its a brand new bike. Big John Thanks for the reply. I checked the drips, definitely oil. Thinking the fan through... I did replace the big light assembly with the much smaller "cat eye" light that came with the bike, there was some wiring removed (though all the connections seemed pretty obvious). Maybe there is a non-obvious (to me anyway) connection that has to be made. Any ideas? I'm sure someone on here knows this one. I'd take it to the nearest dealer, but they are a 12 hour drive. I will send them an email as well.

(thanks M sport)

(thanks M sport) Was it located in the headlight assembly? If so I definitely removed it. The manual showed it located not far from the rear shock so I thought I was ok. I'll check it out tonight, thanks!!!
jwc
Yep, it was in the headlight assembly. I relocated it in front of the shock and everything is working properly. Thanks for the help!

jimmyl
Is this a feature with later 4rts. I have removed lighting etc on 2005 model without relocation of fan relays. 315 and 4rt wiring looms used to be so easy to disconnect lighting as could just unplug extra wiring and re plug together the 2 ends of the loom
