britishballa
I have a 2007 250 beta rev 3 and a 2006 270 beta rev 3 and on both of them the tyre wears on the inside of the exhaust can when the tyre's up that high. It wears so much that there's a 2 inch whole in the side of the exhaust now and fumes blow out the side I can see why it does it, but can't see anything wrong or broken to make it do it. The exhaust can/silencer can wobble side ways a bit, far enough so it gets in the way of the tyre. This has happened on both of them so i was wondering whether this is a known problem or a problem with both the bikes?
scotty97
My brother has just purchased a 2004 beta rev3 and the exhaust had a hole in the side from the tyre also. So we did a quick repair using a STRONGBOW can and some jubilee clips (Looks good ha ha ha) so its tidy until new exhaust can be purchased, and then spaced the exhaust out using a couple of washers. Tyre misses exhaust now, No probs. To be honest we was wondering if theres suppose to be a spacer there anyway????????????
stuessenhigh
People put all sorts of ugly spacers/extra washers on the final mounting bracket for the exhaust, but they are all totally unneccesary. If you take your rear mudguard off, you will see the two metal spar/rear subframe brackets. The one on the right (as you sit on the bike) is the one which holds the exhaust. Take a pair of strong pliers or maulgrips, and just slightly bend the hoop with a hole in it that the exhaust bolts too...obviously bend it slightly outwards. It wont break if you only bend a little bit, and a little bit is all you need. Put it all back together and the exhaust will be iin a perfect position. Just dont bend it too far, else if might be difficult to line up the exhaust when you put it back on. Hope that makes sense....coz it SHOULD be an easy fix, which wont mean having lots of extra washers or the like spoiling the look of your bike. bowellsyboy
Ive also had this problem on my beta. I did what stu said and bent the bracket back up when the mud guard is off. This worked great and had about 10 - 15mm of clearence between the wheel and exhaust afterwards. However, after binning the bike a few times the bracket soon bends back down and the exhaust starts rubbing again. I dont want to bend the bracket back up again as im worried it will break, as its looking quite 'creased' and 'white' where it bends, so have gone back to using washers to pack it out. Works well and ive got just enough clearance, even when ive got my big ass right over the back wheel!!!!
02-apr
I did all of these but ended up buying a guard that fits over the inside of the silencer from Trickbits - problem solved for about three years now.
britishballa
Where can I buy one of those exhaust protectors off the web?
