I have currently own an 06 Rev 3 which since I have owned it has been a very reliable machine....Iam thinking of buying something a bit newer and would like your thoughts and experience on Sherco 250's from 07 onwards. ie are there any ongoing probs that well known to this model..

I have seen an 09 2t 250 Sherco on sale at a local dealers which they say was their demo bike. They want

Well, I went from a 250 beta rev3 to an 06 125 Sherco last febuary.. was pleasantly surprised, build quality feels a bit better and maintenance is so much easier when needed! The 06 shock was rather dodgy with an easily threaded bottom cup and poor seals, 07's were much better, better shocks, better brake disks and more progressive forks... Not saying these were poor on the 06, I found the sherco much better than the beta IMO.

07, 08 and 09 sherco's haven't really changed that much, few tweaks to the frame and engine but thats it really. Just got myself an 08 paxau 125, the riding posistion is much more comfy, the footpegs feel a tad further back, it grips slightly easier than my 06, even with less tyre! The 09 has even more tweaks I think...

On the maintenance side of things the sherco is easier than the beta, Not sure if things have changed but on my Beta the tank was part of the frame and the airbox was a bugger to remove.. with the sherco theres three bolts(one if you decide to use zip ties) to get the muguard off, slide the hose off the tank and then you can just pull it out... Airbox is then just an allen screw and a nut to remove, release the jubilee clips either side of the carb and remove the airbox, from here the carb just pops off. Just general maintenance, simple! With the tank out you have easy access to all wiring and the radiator.

If you search for the topic "sherco virgin" Theres about 16 pages of conversation about 'the addicts' switchover from beta to sherco and the differences he found!

Theres a few advantages of the beta, main one being the linkless suspension, less maintenance in this department.

All in all I would reccomend going down to the dealer and asking for a ride on the sherco, you can either love it or hate it. Considered the 08 monts? Maybe even a Xispa?

I have ultra high res photos of the 09 sherco if you want a close look from the comfort of your own home! Just send me a pm with your email address and I'll send them over!
