skov
Hi all, My 1998 315 has appears to be somewhat sickly. I'm struggling to get it to idle without setting the tickover very high. At low revs it's constantly surging, at a rate of about 1 surge per second. It revs up nicely, but when you shut the throttle is takes an age for the revs to drop (several seconds), and it surges on the way down. I think it may be running quite hot too. It's had these problems for a while, but they've been getting steadily worse. I took the carb off the other day and gave it a good clean - now the problems are worse than ever. It's so bad now I had to borrow my mate's beta to ride a trial today! Anyone got any ideas on what might be wrong with it? Cheers, John
laser1
Sounds like you may have an air leak somewhere - I'd check the iintake/reed block 1st.
skov
Sounds like you may have an air leak somewhere - I'd check the iintake/reed block 1st. I think you might have been right! I stripped the reed block out and reassembled it with copious amounts of gasket gloop - problem solved! At least I hope so, only had a quick ride up and down the street, but she seems to be behaving herself now Thanks!
