jandyb
Hi ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) Dexron III -Jan
laser1
Assuming everything is mechanically sound, If you want it to be less grabby(slower enguagement) , using GM autoTrakII transfer case fluid (blue in color) works better than ATF. I recently ran out of the autotrak and used ATF, onl;y to remember why the autotrak is prefered. I think most novice riders would benefit from it. Experts and pro's tend to like a fast clutch and use ATF. The downside is that it costs more than ATF.

jonathan collier
Seconded ATF works fine but can feel a bit grabby. GG USA recomends: " GAS GAS RECOMMENDATIONS Spark Plug NGKBP5RES, Champion RN11YC, Bosch Platinum WR9DP Trans/Clutch Oil Always 5W30 (Not 10W40), 350cc for the Pro, 650cc for other models, normal motor oil (Castrol/Penzoil etc). It is not recommended to use synthetic oil. Gasoline 95 Octane minimum. No alcohol type blends. (Jim uses Sunoco purple 115 octane 20% to Shell unleaded premium 80%). Premix Between 80:1 and 100:1 Brake Fluid DOT 4 is standard. DOT 5 is fine. (All higher numbers mix with lower numbers)." I'm tempted to try the 5W30 myself next oil change. Hmm... this sounds like 2002 recommondations. First: The 02 Pro used 350cc gearoil. From 03 its about 550cc. Second: 5W30 (pure mineral oil - no synthetic) is ok but I think GasGas USA now recommends ATF Dexron III Third: AFAIK DOT 5 brake fluid DOES NOT mix with DOT 4!!?? -Jan
