copemech
Does not appear too bad really! What I use on a thing like this is a bit of diluted Muratic(swim pool) acid. Always add acids to water! About 1oz water then 2 oz (60ml) acid seems to be ok. Use an eye dropper to apply the mix and it will foam up, eating away at the ali. Agitate a bit then re apply. Use rubber gloves. A bit of scotcbrite pad accross the bore(not longways) may help. With a little work it will take it out! Keep a water rinse nearby and rinse and dry if things get too messy, and for your own protection.! Ues eyeware too!
motomerlin
If it's only alloy stuck to the surface you could clean it up & get a new piston. Depending on the age of bike - the bore could be worn anyway, so you may as well get it replated. However if the hard plating of the barrel is damaged a re-plate is needed with a new piston. johnfromscarborough
Thanks for the advice few people have been goingon aboutmrs can any ahed any light on this shop? where would any 1 recomend getting new piston from?
trialsnutterman
I think your going to need a replate to be honest In your picture it looks like the plating has come off a little bit. Are the marks holes or lumps, if they are holes as it looks like then do not put any acid on it as it will eat the aluminium under the plating causing more damage. If they are lump then you could try disolving the aluminium off, I'd use cautic soda (sold as drain cleaner if some shops) as this will disolve the aluminium nicely, aluminium tends to be fairly resistant to acids, your plating will be eaten away with nitric acid (I'm not sure about Muratic acid). Hope this helps
trialsnutterman
MRS are the sole importers of Sherco motorcycles they don't really have a shop as such just a warehouse. Try SplatShop for your piston.
