Peak Classic Rd 5 Sidenooks Quarry Youlgrave 21st June

Recommended Posts

Peak Classic Trials Cub ran Round 5 of their Club Championship at Cookes Quarry, Sidenooks, Youlgrave near Matlock last Sunday 21st June. It was the first day of Summer, Fathers Day and an excellent day out in the Peak National Park for the excellent turn out of competitors who enjoyed the 4 laps of 12 sections.

The sections were made easier by the warm summer sunshine but mainly consisted of tight turns in and around the trees. Even though there was more grip than usual nobody stayed clean and there was some close competition with Pete Carson winning the Expert British Bike Class by 3 marks. The closest competition however came in the Pre 95 Air Cooled Mono shock class with Peter Roscoe on his Gas Gas just piping Chris Slack, Beta, to the win by 1 mark.

As usual the Club would like to thank all the observers who helped out and the event started with all but one section manned and that was soon rectified by one of the members who was not riding but had turned up stopping off on a ride around the Peaks on his road bike. Thanks mate it really is appreciated..

hey paul, you`re looking good for the centre championship now.

you should be asking for start money next season !!!

Well that put the mockers on it didnt it :D Really blew it today  just couldnt take the pressure.

Must say though thanks so much for the encouragement and support mate and a big thanks to Mark Hallows who did his best to guide me around for the last two laps. Big improvement once he showed me where to ride but by then it was too late.

Oh well the best man won in the end

hard luck mate, always next year !!

True and after Yours, Petes and Marks input the bike should be more competitive. Shame improvements in the pilot wont be so easy

Dont think it will be so "easy" to take next year though cos rumor is everybody who is elegable will receive points wether they opt to enter or not.

Still was fun and must say congratulations to Mike he did all the rounds i didnt and on the day he rode better and deserved the championship.

See you at Burycliffe i hope ?
