honda_trials
I had a go in the chair of a friend's outfit when I was at Robregordo 2009 - great fun! I have just acquired my own outfit and am looking for events to ride in the SE of England. I could direct you o a solo trial in my ares every weekend but I have no idea where to find a sidecar trial, I guess it's 'being in the know' isn't it? Can anyone point me in the righty direction? robin m. s/c
Try getting in touch with Ian or Helen Allaway at JAM sport. They are heavily involed in the sidecar scene in that area.
honda_trials
Thanks Robin, I will do that. It's good to know there is one sidecar enthusiast who reads this forum!
wobbler
Honda Trials, There is more than one, I just don't know as many people as Robin. Enjoy your first event and take plenty of Band Aids - You could have a few tumbles. But all of the crew's will help you out. Make sure you do the socialising , normally its a beer in the pub - its what sidecar trials is about. Make sure you keep us updated. Good Luck and enjoy. rabie
we've got a wobbler trial at Canada Heights (J3 M25) on 15th November and the last one we had we had 3 chairs, so if you want to come for an easy play .....
hillary
I have just picked up on this thread and can now break out some good news, confirmed to me only today. The Lakes Motor Trial Association (organisers of the fantastic Lakes Two Day) will be running a British Championship sidecar round on Saturday July 17 2010, starting deep in the heart of the Lake District at Torver which is at the top end of Coniston Water. The trial (on SATURDAY) is being held in conjunction with the Inter Centre Twin-shock Team Trial which will be held on Sunday the 18th of July. Both trials will be run by the same team that organises the Lakes Two Day but the sidecar trial on Saturday will be plotted by former five time national sidecar trial winnner and TC columnist Mike Rapley. So, how did this all come about? You may know that Rappers and passenger Andrew Scott rode the Manx Two Day this year on a sidecar. They thoroughly enjoyed the event but had a succession of bike problems which didn't really allow them to reflect their potential. They were 19th on Saturday but finished 23rd after having to take 25 in fives late on Sunday afternoon. Anyway, Robin Luscombe says to Mike at the prize presentation "how about you organising a sidecar trial in the Lakes" for Robin rode one of his very first sidecar trials in the Lakes back in 1981 when Rappers and the Barrow club included the class in a club trial. Our columnist said nowt, but it set him thinking and following discussions with several Lakes folk at the recent Lakes Two Day, a late application was put in, supported by ACU committee man Tim Fairbrother who agreed to drop one of his rounds, and hey presto, there will be a sidecar round in Cumbria. The trial will be on the road and will use several areas of land, just possibly one lap but more likely two - in fact there's more land available to chairs than you can imagine. There's natural rock streams, rock and mud hillsides, in fact the area has more than you could ever wish for. So, whilst it's very early days, all you sidecar boys had better get planning and keep Saturday July 17 free, for rest assured, it'll be done right! beamish owners club
Shame The Lakes has road work Mike, that excludes me and my rider.
hillary
Surely most British Championship sidecar trials are on the road - they always were when I did them, and looking at the current calendar, they are all on the road aren't they? mick annick
Jim Track down Kevin Nolan - he and a few others ride in the South East and can help you; Alton Club occasionally run a sidecar route if Kev's gang are around Mike
gups
Hi Jim ,if you have a modern sidecar then the south eastern experts at hungary hill in december, the star group has sidecars mod/pre65,sammy miller rounds have classes for pre 65 and twinshock, Kev Nolan has given up and we are riding solos at the moment,i still have mine but due to lack of a passenger at the moment am unsure as to what to do. As said in an earlier post it is a very social group and many pubs will be visited, email me and i will give you more details and some other crews numbers ,good luck. rabie
Surely most British Championship sidecar trials are on the road - they always were when I did them, and looking at the current calendar, they are all on the road aren't they? still part of the championship conditions, as we were mulling other running a round a few years back when we had a very pro active guy who liked sidecars (unfortunately not with the sport any more) but we'ld have to send guy out on real main roads/local rat runs to even get to another club's bit of land..... i can't really think of any (modern, mayben even pre65) trials down here in the wider south east area with road work, all we've got are the odd LDT (for enduro and trail bikes due to fuel stops)
honda_trials
we've got a wobbler trial at Canada Heights (J3 M25) on 15th November and the last one we had we had 3 chairs, so if you want to come for an easy play ..... I wish I had known before Rabie as we are only in Brighton but I cracked a couple of ribs at a trial in Surrey 4 weeks before and would not hav3 been fit to ride. I hope you got more than 3 this time. I will watch out for more posts here if your rin more. Cheers, Jim

Please excuse my ignorance Mike, it may well be that there was always raod work, I only took up trials a few years ago. Neither my pilot or I hold a licence so we can't do anything with road work. Cheers, Jim
honda_trials
I have to confess that I haven't been in touch with Ian Allaway yet to find out about localish trials but I will get there in the new year!
rabie
we had a crew come up from Brighton & DMCC for both wobblers! re local (is southeastern centre), check out the dates on the local trials site - http://www.southeasttrialscombine.org.uk/ there is a centre modern and pre65 sidecar trials championship, plus the star group (every 2nd Sunday) run sidecars, so given all them events, plus the various British championships (Modern or Sammy Miller) out there the sidecar crews are busy.
