mjb
I'm trying to work out if my pick up sensor / pulse coil for a Pro 05 300 with a Ducati Ignition is faulty. Anyone know what resistance I should be getting out of it?
stork955
Around 250 ohms. No circuit to ground. Or of you like it should make around 0.7 volts AC when kicking over. Cheers, Stork
mjb
Cheers Stork955, I don't suppose you've ever had one to bits? Unless i've lost something on the garage floor mine is just a metal plate, magnet and then the mounting plate. Some people have suggested to me that there should be a spring inside???? Cheers! stork955
Gday, no thats it - apart from a small very fine coil of wire. They aren't designed to be pulled apart and there is nothing you can fix internally anyway. Failures usually come from the coil - internal shorts or breaking, and when they get older the magnet can lose its grunt lowering output below what is needed to trigger the CDI. Aftermarket ones are quite cheap - they are a pretty common thing these days. Cheers, Stork
lee101
Just to bump on this thread as I'm having a similar issue. Is this the correct pickup for a 2007 gasgas txt pro 250? It looks the same and has the correct hole spacing / measurements. It's just not listed as a gasgas part. http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalog/P7.html It's resistance is 228 ohms. Cheers, Lee.
