zippy
TheShercoRider Posted Yesterday, 03:42 PMHad the flywheel off and it and the stator was all mucky so I cleaned it all up but there was no difference. If it was the Woodruff key you should have seen it sheared off when you had the Flywheel off.
copemech
Yea, doubt it is the flywheel woodfuf key, as once sheared they don't recover on their own. Sounds like time to pull the stator plate and send it to Steve at Motoplat UK unless you are able to find an exchange unit? Thought I heard MRS had some, yet not sure. theshercorider
Right today I made sure the woodruff key was ok and it was, talked to someone in the know and they said that it is not so likely to be the stator plate because if it was electronical it would not be intermittent. Now today I took the tank off and thought I would give it a good going over so I emptied it out. Now before I cleaned the tap/filter but forgot to think that when I turned the tank all the petrol would wash most of the muck away. So rather embarrassingly I found a whole load of crappy bits of mud in there and to my suprise a big clump of off cut/shaving of plastic (tank plastic probably from when it was made) so I cleared it out and will try and getr out and test it tommorow. If that fails I am going to borrow someones stator plate. Also this may explain why it was intermittent because sometimes it would get through and when it was possibly shaken up it may not. I hope it is fixed as it will finally be done and be cheaper.
trialsnutterman
Be sure to clean out the filter on the carb as well, undo the 10mm headed bolt where the petrol pipe goes in and give it a good blast with the air line.
copemech
Start over! And be sure there is no water as well! Clean carby is a happy one! Take it off carefully ans see what you catch when opening it over a glass bowl!
shercoman2k8
Could be fuel? Drain the tank, empty the fuel from the float bowl on the carb, replace fuel hose and filter if using one and try again. With it being after a few hours your bike could be running low in the tank so not much weight from the fuel above forcing through. Ahem I reccomend putting half a litre of fuel in, giving it a bloody good shake and pouring it out to clean stuff out... As for the carb, empty the fuel, blow all your jets out, new fuel line and in-line filter if using one! Wishing you luck. Jamie
theshercorider
It wasn't that!!! So now I have a new/working stator plate in, will try and get out tommorow for testing and will update then.

Yea, well then, hopefully nothing else overlooked! Did we discuss the fuel tank vent hose? When the poor running happens, can you pull the hose off the cap and have pressure escape? Seems I did see one that seemed a bit too long and got pinched off due to routing and installation of the fuel tank on it! Not being able to hear it run, just another idea! theshercorider
Anybody got any weird and wonderful ideas I could try before I give up on it?
zippy
like Copemech suggested pull the vent hose off and see if that makes a difference. I am not sure if yours has the vent valve in the gas tank cap like mine does. But if that is not working properly may cause frustration. If pulling hose off does not work try loosening the tank cap to allow pressure equalization. OR BFH (won't help the bike but you will feel better)
copemech
Ok , then back to basics, switch off the carby. With the lot on the tank and all, just not sure. Ck flow to the carby when this happens by pulling the inlet line to the banjo fitting. Should p*** well. You did double ck the carby ? and banjo screen?
