fish06
Just wondering how many people stick to Bantam forks when doing a Pre 65 Bantam trials build, are they usable? what mods if any? or is the C15 fork conversion a better bet? I've already got some Bantam forks (D7) so would like to use them if they're suitable, but if not I'll look for others, any recomendations? Thanks. fish06
Having looked at the D7 forks again I've realised the C15 type would be a lot better, anybody got any tips on the C15 conversion? Thanks.
alan_nc
I went with early Yamaha forks on my '59 Bantam. You will find that the D1 forks are almost a "bolt on" conversion. A spacer is needed for the threaded stem. They are easy to rebuild, have the dampening you are looking for, and parts are available. It would seem they meet the "spirit" of the Pre-65 rules. I kept the Yamaha hub/brakes which are also an improvement. Some extensive grinding on the fork stops is also a big hellp.

fish06
Hmmm.......... how many events have rules that state the front forks have to be "British"? do many allow you to use early Yam etc.. or say early Bultaco forks? I'm on a budget and only want to build my bike once if I can help it. Thanks.
alan
yorkshire and lancashire clubs tend to turn a blind eye.. unless you start winning... then quite rightly you will have to enter as a special
alan_nc
Guys, Well, I rode AHRMA (in the U.S.), took 2nd Nationally with the bike and never got a single complaint about the forks. I truly don't know if they are more lax over here or not. Alan
