speedymaniac
Hi guys, My girlfriend recently picked up a 1996 Beta Techno 250 and we're trying to get it sorted out. The wiring was quite the mess, but now I've got the fan working properly and the headlight is wired up again. Last thing to do is put a kill switch on the bike. I have the wiring diagram in the owner's manual and it looks the bike has never had a kill switch (don't see one in the diagram, anyways). I have a spare one kicking around (moose 2 wire - grounds to frame) that I'd like to wire up for the bike. Where should it connect into the wiring harness? On my Gassers they connect directly to the CDI box. Any ideas where it should get connected in on the Beta? Thanks! Steve
stork955
Gday, On the Rev 3 the stop switch hooks into a White/Black wire exiting the CDI and grounds on the other side. I cant tell if the Techno's are the same, if there isnt one on yours let me know and I'll have a look at my Techno for you. Cheers, Stork. speedymaniac
No black/white wire exiting the CDI that I could see. I ended up connecting it to the Red/White wire exiting the CDI and connecting into the headlight and fan wiring then grounding to the frame where the CDI and coil ground by the airbox. Seems to work fine, but if you have your techno apart I'd like to see how it is supposed to be. One other thing - I plugged in the voltage regulator and the bike ran like crap (wouldn't rev up, misfired, etc) so I disconnected it again. Is there any need for a voltage regulator on this bike? Thanks, Steve
stork955
Gday, yes, you need a voltage regulator so you don't burn the fan out. They also need a rectifier which I don't think they fitted originally. I have both on mine now. I'll have a look at mine over the weekend and tell where they all go in the wiring loom. I wish there was a good quality Techno wiring diagram, does anyone have one kicking around? I might have to make myself one when I'm not bored one year... carlosechavarria
Hi Stork. Do you still have the wiring diagram in the owner's manual? I need it for a friend who has two Betas Techno 1996. If you do so, please, would you share it by mail to me: echavarria@une.net.co Thanks, Carlos Echavarria I'm a Trial rider and photographer. Here's one photo of Daniel Atehortua from our last regional competition. Enjoy.
