samandkimberly
My understanding is that the 315r motor started life as a CR250. Just what is still CR250? Pistons? Rings? Crank? Also, several people recommend swapping CR250 clutch plates with the stock ones for less sticking - is it possible that they are the same? I don't actually need to do anything to my motor yet. My clutch does stick a little bit, but I don't think I'm losing points because of it. I would like to know what parts I can buy from my Honda dealer when I do need them. Thanks, Sam Edited August 31, 2009 by samandkimberly
highscore
Hello, As far as I know you can get all parts via Honda dealers, but Sandifords have a bit more product knowledge i.e. I needed a brake pedal pivot for my 315r and the Sandifords parts man knew a 4RT one would fit and was miles cheaper. if you want part numbers go here... Apex Mont 315 Parts book If you want ball park prices go here... CMS Parts Hope this helps.
samandkimberly
As far as I can tell, I can't get Montesa 315 parts from Honda dealers in the US. Perhaps I can via special order, but that would defeat the purpose, which is to find cheap, readily available alternatives where it makes sense; if I have to special order I'll go to the Montesa dealer. Looking at the fiches, and comparing part numbers, I'm beginning to think that most of the parts have been tweeked in one way or another, and there is little that directly interchanges. Aside from clutches, has anyone interchanged any 315 and CR parts successfully? Sam
for artie
Refer to your owners manual/parts book. If the middle 3 digits of a part number are NN2, NN3 or NN4 etc... then its a part that is specific to Montesa. Otherwise the part is a standard Honda part. Your are better off buying from Lewisport USA as they have the knowledge and support the sport.
fastducs
Hi Sam. I see you are in my neck of the woods. "for artie" gave you the key to interpreting part numbers. Parts without NNx are standard Honda parts, and can be purchased either online from e.g. ronayers.com or from your local honda dealer. Montesa-specific parts can not be purchased through Honda dealers here in US. Most of them don't even know how to spell "Montesa". One potential local (Fall River, MA) source is Rising Sun Cycles, since they import HRC race bikes (roadracing mostly). Remember that the engine is not a run of the mill Honda - rather it is HRC. And of course you can get parts from Lewisport. Vitaly NETA #

I never thought of trying RSC, that's an interesting thought, though I'll probably stick with Lewisport when I need parts. I have no problem with Lewisport at all, I just like to know when I might be able to get stuff quickly/locally before I need to do so rather than after.
