Novogar This Weekend

Hi all,

REALLY short of observers for this weekends Novogar trial (Sunday 6th Sept). Start is 20 miles West of Welshpool in a little village called Llangadfan.

It's a long slog to mark out 40 sections over 26 miles, but a worse nightmare to find the observers for it at the end.

If anybody is interested, you are able to bring a bike along if you like, but most of the sections are within a few yards of the road/track also.

Nobody minds you scrubbing the sections off while there's no riders about

Once you're on the land there is no road work needed - central parking spot will let you travel all around it by bike!

May (and its a very small may) be able to come and help Gaz. I emailed the sec last night to say its unlikely I'll ride. I was due to have my knee operated on this morning but its postponed until tomorrow now. If I'm fairly mobile I may still come over

Rather than cancell any sections because you don't have an observer BS, have a front marker go out with the first rider out, any section unmanned make the first rider to get it observe it, once the back marker closes the sections, that rider can then carry on with the rest of the trial.

We have done it a couple of times so we could run a long single lap trial, worked great.

Have you got a entry list and the start times, need to work out how long I can stay in bed for.

Ishy thats a very good idea

getting an early number in a Novagar single lap trial can often spoil the event as the sections change so much so why not let the early numbers observe a section then drop back for the rest of the event. Every one then gets a turn at the back, they would need additional time allowance but should be able to work that out.

Sorry, no chance I'll make it as they've kept me in hospital. Hope you some volunteers. Like the idea of early numbers doing a section though as I always seem to come out with an early number.

Looks like we're just about sorted. Never really had this sort of trouble before, but really unlucky with number of people away one place or another.

We normally use the rider/observer idea for our Forest Trophy trial as the result is not of great importance. Not sure it'd be great for the Novogar though as I reckon there's a fair chance of big disputes with riders observing competitors. Maybe we could try it with some clubman riders next year if we need to.

Thanks to those able to help anyway, especially the dads that have riders in the event. Ray Crinson, Steve Fox, Andrew Huxley, and a few others I believe. To the rest of the riders and their support crew, please bear in mind that there are riders out there with less support than they may have had, because the support crew are observing - please try to help out riders with breakdowns/punctures etc.
