kiwiade
Hi folks, Were the ty50's any good compared to the ty80? There's a couple of ty50's in pieces for sale here and they might be good for my two sons to learn on (aged 7 and 9). Then again by the time I get them running the boys might be aged 17 and 19!! Cheers, Ade
ducman
Hi KiwiAde,for a 7 and 9 year old they are not bad,but i would go for the TY 89,for a 17 and 19 year old i would go for a TY 175 or Ty 250. Chrs:Mike
grahamjayzee
I could be wrong, but I recall from back in my yoof that the TY80 was, as we all know, the competition bike for the wee small people, whilst the TY50 was also sold as a road going bike for 16+ year olds. It was sold around the time the 30mph restriction was introduced in the UK (77). I would guess from this that it's physically larger, but has gearing and power delivery less suitable for trials. However, as a bike to hoon around on, I'm sure it's fine. I still think I'd seek out a TY80 though... Graham
