Hi All

I have a Beta Rev 3 and love it, but are experiancing a few problems and request some of your experianced advice please..

1: Sometimes fouls plugs and doesnt start. Its drinking a lot more petrol than my other mates Rev 3 as I always run out way before them. I am going to check the jetting and need to know the standard spec please? previously when it wouldnt start i had petrol/oil leaking out of the exhaust silencer when I was kicking it??

2: When My bike failed to start last time, I noticed the spark was very weak. Is there a way of testing to prove this?

Before I set off to reslove these little problems myself I am hoping some of you can assist.

Many thanks for any advice/help offered here.

Cheers

Gday, Id check in this order -

Correct spark plug to the letter.

Aircleaner - Clean? - don't over oil it!

Carb - float level, jetting and wear on the needle and needle jet. The smallest amount of wear makes a huge difference. I don't know the specs for a Rev 3, someone will chime in here.

Clean the exhaust. Do this anyway.

You can check spark - the best way is to grab a spark checking tool from your local bike/automotive shop and it should easily jump a 6mm gap in air. Basically though if it has spark it should be OK.

Cheers,

Stork

Cheers for your help so far Peops!!

The sparkplug I have been using is a NGK BP6ES and I have a BP6EB in to bike at the moment.

The Airfilter is clean regularly but do confess to using a very light spray of WD40 to oil.

How would I clean the exhaust as recommended?

Has anybody any guidance on Carb float level and jetting. I would also like to know how I can check for wear on the needle and jet?

When I purchased the bike approx 3 months ago I was told the Stata was renewed about 2 yrs ago.

Cheers!!

the most likely reason your using a lot of fule compared to your mate is that the things leaking fuel from the carb, there are posts at some length on here on how to rectify

to be honest as long as the filter is clean the oil isnt a great issue ( its there to trap the finest muck)

to clean the exhaust whip off the end of the exhaust can and pull the stuffing out wack some more in job done ( you can get a bag of the stuff or a ready to go cartridge from lampkins)
