duggan
Hi does any know what the changes were from the 09 evo rear shock to the 2010? Did they just change the spring or was there tweaks to the damper?
liviob
I cant say for sure but I'm thinking just the spring is firmer for the 2010. Considering what the shock is used for i dont think they made any internal changes. I installed a firmer spring on my 09 shock and the compression damping is still fine. I did have to add a little bit more rebound control. I sure wish that Beta factory would give us a shock that we could easily take apart and service ourselves. Since the shock body and piston are made of aluminum i would like to be able to change the shock oil often. This would also allow me the ability to tune the shock if i wanted to. samo
What about older models? 2007 Rev3. Can I Change oil in rear shock myself? Do I need some special tools? I found my a bit oily on outer side..
liviob
I have heard that you can have the rev3 shocks rebuilt through the beta dealer network. Basicaly you give them yours and they give you a refreshed shock. But you might try your local suspension tech first to see if he can rebuild it. nzralphy
Beta do a Rev3 shock rebuild kit. It is very difficult to do. Get a shock tech to do it. 5wt oil and 250psi
duggan
Just fitted a stronger rear shock spring from SXS seems much better than the standard spring. The bike always felt under sprung and half the travel was used up just standing on much the same as my 09 model. Now The bike feels way more neutral and the back end doesn't give up when riding anything bigger than a kurb!

duggan
Yeah sure you will, I set my preload up simular to the standard shock setting then gave it a one full turn of damping to cope with the extra rebound, feels good on having a quick play at the back of the house, will see how it is this weekend. Only thing I did notice was the silencer was touching the new sping so had to loosen the exhaust to adjust it out slightly.
