darrensn
Hi Jokerr, I know what you are saying, it's would bad news to buy an 09 and find you have to spend money on it and end up nearer to the 2010. Being honest, most 09's I have seen are cast off's of riders who've had the best out of them and are changing them for new. Will keep looking .... Cheers. PS. please stop hijacking this thread guys talking about 'nothing what so ever' to do with the topic ???
perce
No problem, if you want a spotless bike to **** over at home, go get a new one. If you're willing to take a chance on a nearly new one go for it, having said that it takes a knack of nowing a good un from a nail on a 5 minute spin on somebodies drive. I'm chancer, I've not actually bought a new bike since I had a 2005 280 Gasser in September 2004.
jmspear
and then there's the time spent looking, I looked at four '09 bikes travelling, miles to Devizes, Newbury, local in Glos and even Sheffield, every one was a nail which had had the best beaten out of it within a year, nobody describes a bike as having hard use, bashed into steps and generally battered at trials and practicising most days of the week, they are all mint, hardly used, but one look at the bash plate, the scrapes on the cycle parts and the replacement wheels, wheel bearings and head bearings tells the true story. The one owner hardly used bike isn't usually a 1 yr old bike, most of the 1 yr old bikes are ridden by experts who then change every year. My time ended up being more precious that the

benbeta23
Hi, I have a 2010 290 Evo & i have to say it's amazing, as the 2009 evo was the first of the evo's, they had a few problems (nothing major), but now on the second year of the making the evo's they are sorted such as the carb is modified, new ignition settings, new radiator, suspension modified, frame/swingarm different etc..., but if you do deicde to go for an 09, make sure you swap the fenders over, because the 2010 colour scheme is amazing, you will love it. Have a think about it, see what you decide, if you have the extra cash to make up the price for a new one, it would be worth buying new. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/beta-evo-290-trials-...=item2c525f162a, nice example of an 09 there. darrensn
Cheers Ben , already seen this one on ebay, do you think a 290 would be too much for a novice ? I just sold an 08 4RT, what's a 290 evo like in comparison on power etc ??
ham2
What about the 2009 model failings...swing arm ..frame...wheel bearing sizes... is this not enough to make you look for a 2010.
duggan
Defo go for a 2010 model if you can, I have had an 09 and now a 2010. My first evo was great but did have all the 09 failings swing arm cracked twice, frame cracked, wheel bearings collapsed and destroyed the rear hub etc.... all of these problems should be sorted for 2010 so well worth the extra cash! You will love the 290, they are a lovely bike to ride, to be honest there isn't that much difference in a 250 & 290, they are both good bikes, they both have the power there if needed.
