grib
What types of gear oil are people using in their Gas Gas Pros? I have recently bought a 2003 250 Pro which has 2004 clutch plates in it, I am using Silkolene light gear oil (10w40) and the clutch is dragging. I have bled the clutch but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
grib
Have just read Gasgasser's "Dragging clutch" post, I don't think I can get PJ1 Clutch tuner locally, does anyone know if it is it worth trying any others? perce
I've used motul oil in all 4 Pros I've had. No clutch slip on any of them. Only problem I've ever had are a set of seals going when I left my 03 to stand for a month.

pits300pro
We use GM transfer case oil called Auto Trak 2. It seems to do the job just fine!
nickerlias
I also have been using dexron 3 automatic transmission fluid and had no problems, can be cheap if you buy from the right place, ie not from Halfords! Must change regularly though, I change after every two or three rides.

grib
When I spoke to Gas Gas UK they said don't use ATF with the 2004 clutch plates because it will make the clutch slip. Are you guys using ATF with the newer plates with no problems?
jtt
I use ATF in my 2004 and it works perfect. For what it's worth, I've run ATF in all my bikes for years...including MXers (where the loads are MUCH greater). It's perfect for clutches as that's what its designed for. If you are concerned about slippage, use the "Type F" intended for older Ford type trannys. It is designed specifically to prevent slippage.
