Hey, Im posting after a day bleeding the front and rear brakes of my jt 1994 gasgas. After alot of trial and error I managed to bleed them, my problem is that the brakes work good only when wet. I mean if I go now and try out the brakes they wont hold well and i throw some water on them and work 100% ok (with only onw finger on the front brake its easy to pull uu a stoppie) but after some time when the dry the brakes wont hold anymore. Tried cleaning the disks with contact cleaner but no improvement.

any idea what may be the problem?

Thanks

James

The pads still have about 5 - 7 mm, maybe some brake fluid got on them but I washed the disk with water and contact cleaner well.

My brother told me that it used to do the same when he used to compete with it, maybe the brake pads are burnt or bad quality or something?

Personaly I never changed the pads, front disk is new.

today ill try touching them with a sandpaper and see what happens as I cant find any in my country, will have to wait so I can order from uk because of christmas gifts...

Thanks james

I had this problem with a '95 250. Tried everything and finally put new pads on and the problem was gone. No idea what happened to the old ones, they looked fine and I tried cleaning, sanding, you name it. I do know the new ones I put on had less metal in the friction material. Get some new pads.

Today I tried the brakes and worked ok maybe they dried out now. tomorrow I will be going to a local spot to test them out well with my friend, If they wont hold 100% well I will have to wait for some new pads.

Thanks For all your help guys!
