Fuel Additives

I have a classic car that still needs lead replacement added to the fuel. I use the Castrol Lead replacement and octane booster. This got me thinking that perhaps I could use it in the Trials bike (Beta Rev3 250 and Sherco 125) I realise it will have little performance benefit But might help the bike live a bit longer. I seem to remember reading that the old 500 GP bikes lasted alot longer before they switched to unleaded.

Just a thought.....Any comments

I can't see that it could hurt and the Sherco is supposed to run on 98 octane anyway.

I used to use AvGas in my rev3's, 50/50 mix with super unleaded, works wonders,cool running and clean mix. Get down you local airport and tell them its for your microlight B) always worth doing abit of homework before though (microlights) incase the bugger at the fuel station knows abit about them :)

Personally, I tend to syay away from this type stuff unless absoutely required. Seems most the modern bikes are designed to work perfectly well on 98RON unleaded fuel. Lead in itself does nothing for a 2T motor other than help foul plugs!

A mix of Avgas can have some advantage in bringing up octane levels in bikes that are prone to ping, yet Avgas does have levels of tetra-ethyl lead that are possibly 3-4 times higher than what was once found in auto fuel. TEL is sort of bad stuff, and even though avgas is basically blended to atomize well at cooler temps, even the many aircraft engines that were not neccessarily built to use that stuff have fits with carbon and lead buildup! My Cessna was built to run on 87 octane avgas, which is no longer available, and the thing actually runs better and cleaner on unleaded autogas, yet along with the introduction of alcohol induced autogas, the FAA has totally prohibited the use of the alcohol laced fuel in any aircraft!

So back to the other lead fouling crap!
