My Impression, 2010 Sherco

Had a 10 minute ride on Pat's 2010 Sherco, and despite my limited abilities, here are my impressions. When you first throw a leg over the bike and grab the bars, you notice how light the bike feels just rocking it from side to side. The center of gravity feels much lower. The overall light weight feel was also very noticeable while riding through some warm-up sections. Wheelie turns and just anything to do with placement of the front end will bring a smile to your face. I didn't notice any difference in the rear end which just felt pretty normal. The power was classic Sherco, but did have a slightly smoother bottom end delivery. Brakes and suspension also had a very familiar feel. Construction looks first class. The radiator does not extend out as all the reports I have read seem to indicate. Looks pretty narrow in relation to the other components that make up the front of the frame area. Other than the engine and wheels, the bike really looks all new.

I watched Pat do some jetting changes which did require the fuel tank removal and the air intake boot. He didn't seem to have any trouble but it did take longer to remove the Carb. than the previous model (even though he probably has a few more thumbs than the likes of rlracer or copemech)

If you have one of these bikes on order, your probably not losing any sleep waiting for your new mount, but you should be!

I felt the same impressions about the bike when he was here at the house, took it apart and did some prep work to it. The quality of the new parts looked very good. Other than I didn't have any desires to ride it as at the time it was 5 degrees here and about 6 inches of snow. It did sound good. I'm guessing the K carb has something to do with the smooth bottom. I'm looking forward to getting mine in or around 3 weeks, tick tock. I have a customers 2010 Access in the garage that i'm interested in riding saturday, it came with a 28mm oval slide delorto on it, sound familiar !

Thanks for the video link. Although that clip was low resolution at least one part gave a clearer idea of the heights of the

hazards they have to ride than the official dvd's do.

Never saw Cabes waving in a section while riding the four stroke bike!

Does the new bike have a tighter steering lock to go with the frame around the steering head?

I agree with the above posts. The front end is very light and I've just swapped from a Gasser. It feels very stable to ride, suspension very nice and plush. In regards to the carb it is easy to get it off but there is a knack to getting it back on. I have found that if you put the carb in the reed block first then put the airbox inlet on after it goes on a treat rather than fastening the inlet to the carb and trying to squeeze it into the reed block cos there aint much space! I found the power delivery on my 290 quick off the bottom with the standard dellorto but i'm running a 28mm flatslide dellorto now and that is lovely and smooth. My brother thought it was heavy on the back end but I think thats just cos its so light on the front! Just my observations!

I'm curious....Would you say that it is lighter than a 2007-9 Sherco (to rocking from side to side) that has no fuel in the tank?....if so why?

Best of balance.

My son has an '09 290 and I ride it occasionally after he is done riding. Which is usually when I have a go, so I would say the fuel is very low.

The '10 is lighter for sure. Pat had just added fuel to the tank prior to my ride but I am not sure he topped it off. We did not compare weights and Pat left yesterday.
