suzukitc120
Hello all again ,not really a problem but ive never seen this before, and hope someone can help , the float bowl bottom drain nut on my recently aquired TYZ has been drilled and a pipe connection brazed to it, then a length of 1/4 " hose connected and run down past the gear box sprocket and the end of the pipe sealed with a bung, With the obvious result that if the bung is removed fuel runs straight out. I intend to run run the hose up higher than the float chamber so this wont happen . The bike also has paint dashes on casings etc so I suspect it may have been thrashed in the Scott or even the Scottish but that carb mod doesnt make any sense to me or do you think it may have something to do with these events . Could you also tell me where the throttle cable runs ,does the cable pivot ,point down etc below the front brake master cylinder or run above it above as on a pinky etc. Many Thanks John. woody
It's done to enable quick/easy draining of the float bowl, particularly on events like SSDT where time is short. Much quicker to take the bung out of the hose and empty the float bowl than to try and wrestle the carb off, which isn't a quick job on the TYZ. You can't get to the float bowl drain plug with the carb in situ. If the bike has done the SSDT the paint will have the rider number scratched into it. The throttle cable goes under the brake master cylinder, not over the top.
suzukitc120
Thanks Woody but do you think it wants to point up or replace it running down as it was, And if the rider number is on the paint I could do some research and find out who rode it Thanks Again for your help Woody John. suzukitc120
Hello Im going to start the search on trials central ,Ive looked at the etched number and it is 68 so if any of our members rode a TYZ 250 in I guess 1996 onwards as the bike has blue guards and the box on the exhaust I wonder if you might give it a little history Thanks to all John.
