old trials fanatic
Just been looking at the piccys of the Don Smith Memorial trial 2009 and on there is a BSA Bantam. Now thats what i want mine to look like when i get around to building it. Bootiful. Can anybody supply me details please ? Reposted here as i thought i possibly more appropriate under Pre 65 in retrospect. Sorry.
dalesman
Hi old trial fan, the bantam belongs to Peter Gaunt(no 23) talk to Alan Whitton about it.

Ah thats what Alan meant when i was talking about the Drayton Bantam and he said "i'll show you a Bantam". Thanks for the info will ask him for details. totalshell
better still OTF drag yourself up to deepest halifax this weekend for Yorks Classic biggest trial of the year 45 sections on a private estate, becks mud streams, muck and very few rocks, a real traditional pre 65 trial and i'd wager said bantam will be stretching its legs.. old trials fanatic
Thanks Charlie, Totalshell etc. I do so love the look of that bike. Perhaps enough to sell some of teh bikes to build one? OK perhaps the road bikes Would have loved to get to the Captains Trial but 1. too skint and 2. i will be at the Dales Classic Trial at Burycliffe, a lot of politics going on with regard to that one and some people have put their neck out for me and i wont let them down. Looks like there will have to be some serious parts sourcing and research done over the next few months Already got a motor and PVL ignition and i must have a set of Betors front and back somewhere so just need a frame etc to get started. Whose frame is it BTW. Seen the barrels at Alans so along with hubs and yokes no prob once i have the wonga. woody
Just had the entry list for Saturday's Normandale round and Peter isn't on it surprisingly so I guessed incorrectly on that one.
old trials fanatic
Ah thats what Alan meant when i was talking about the Drayton Bantam and he said "i'll show you a Bantam".Thanks for the info will ask him for details. Hopefully see you on Sunday at Burycliffe local motor cycle dealers willing I would just like to categoricaly state that neither i nor Alan Whitton have ever made or passed any judgement or commented other than favourably with regards to Jim Pickerings Drayton Bantam frame. For my own part i have never even seen one in the metal. All i was trying to find out was more about a Bantam i had seen on the Don Smith Memorial site. I have spoken to Jim with regard to his Bantam products and found him most helpful and once i can afford one will most probably buy one of his products. I feel agreved that i find it necessary to post this but i feel i should due to phone calls that Alan has received infering that he may have made derrogatory comments about the Drayton Bantam frame. HE MOST CERTAINLY HAS NOT AND VALUES JIM AS A FRIEND AND CUSTOMER. I realise that there is a bit of a campaign locally against me at present but find it reprehensive that some people are twisting an innocent request for information and using it against me and my friends to further stir the excrement. PLEASE STOP NOW. Edited March 10, 2010 by Old trials fanatic

marky g
Bumped into and old friend last saturday who was selling me a front rim for my TY, he has just bought a bantam that looked very much like the one in the pics....exhaust came up and over the opposite side to the one in the pic. I know nothing about pre 65 bikes but his looked very nice indeed, i didn't hear it running but it was quite light to lift, apparantly built by some old boy who must have been quite handy with a lathe judging by the trick little bits and bobs.
