ianwilson
When you order the seal order the funny shaped o ring as well for water pump casing. Its a bit fidly to get back in but I stuck mine in with a bit grease to hold it in the slot. The whole lot delivered was less than a

sawtooth
If you cant get the seal to stay put while putting the casing back on then lie the bike on its side.
kasob1964
Hi, If the seal replacement does not work it might be worth noting that the water pump case is made from Magnesium which is porous. If there is evidence of scuffing or corrosion in the Mg case the water can seep through into the gearbox. Replacement water pump case is about 60 squid. The newer cases are made with more Ally and are therefore less porous. Good luck!
sawtooth
I have a new case so the seal is at fault.
john b
Just went to change the seal - and there is a lot of evidence of corrosion, especially at the bottom of the impeller. Quite a few holes in there.... ! Is there a repair (metal-mend?) or am I looking at a new side casing.......... cheers John

ianwilson
John, I thought the 08 had the alloy casing. Might be worth a call to Lampkins.I have heard of people using liquid metal ( think Isopon make it ). Worth a try.
sawtooth
If it has the alloy casing its less likely to corrode but still possible. You may just have a load of old crusty coolant in there, have you scaped away the coolant to see if theres any actual corrosion?
