bobtlr
Hey i'm looking to buy a new bike what would be the best choise? i'm riding for 5 years now and ride just under the expert level (clubman expert) current bike is a sherco 320 and i'm afraid the 250 will feel a bit soft it has a keihin and a S3 exhaust on but maybe the 280 raga is to much? sections here are very tight and a lot of hopping is needed some steps and some climbs but moastly very presice riding needed. any help is welcome, i'm not so used to 2 stroke power . best regards bob

You're not a beginner and I would guess you would adapt fairly quickly to a two-stroke. I know of two riders in their 70's who ride Ragas and really like them. I also know of several riders who are wary of the Sherco 3.2 as they say it has too much power for them (!). Each bike seems to suit a riding style but most riders can adapt their style to suit the bike and often can do things they had difficulty with on their other bike. Trials riders are usually more than willing to let someone try their bikes so try each one to see what suits you better. Jon
beatabeta
I'd probably say go for the Raga Rep 280cc. You can always soften - with flywheel weight, gaskets etc - if you find it too much, however I think (without knowing your riding style etc) that the Raga would be fine. bobtlr
i was going to add the flywheel if i buy the raga would it work on a 250 to or is that to much (does it become lazy and tame) are there things to look for when buying a gasgas? are there weak points that have to be checked? best regards bob
douglas_trials
I am a "competitive" expert and am 22 years old and 14.5 stone and have always loved a responsive gasgas. i also have always opted for the 250 in standard spec. I find they never run out of power once you get to grips with how to get the most out of them. However i bought the 09 250 and found it to be one of the softest and smoothest gassers i have owned (ideal for some), so i put a short S3 pipe on it and this is now a brilliant combination for the conditions you say that you find yourself riding (instant launch in second is unbeatable). i have always found the ragas to be a bit OTT and 99% of the time cause more trouble than they offer in benefits (although i base this on the 300 and 280, never tried a 250). however i do remember having an ohlins rear shock on my 06 or 07 bike and that was brilliant so if the 08 raga comes with one (can't remember) i would be tempted to let that sway the decision, as it improved backend feel on climbs and had a much more refined response when hitting steps rather than just kick or over damped.
