Reading some of your other posts I'm guessing that your not that old, so you wouldn't of been riding trials in the mid eighties when the last four-stroke trials bikes were built.

And as no full blown trials iron of the so called next generation four-stroke has been seen, makes me wonder where you get your hate from???

Being a bit older than you, I think I will wait and see what they are like before I decide what I think of them

Well said Ishy. I couldn't have put it better myself.

I'm very interested in the 4S developments. I've riden plenty of 4S's but never a trials one. I still love the effortless sound and look of a rider on a TRL so I'm looking forward to getting a try a modern version.

Well as long as the scorpa 4 banger comes out next year then that is me , i will stay faithfull and have one of the 1st. My sy was one of the 1st batch of 50 and has served me well. If they dont come up with the goods then i might have to move to honda. I am in the market for a new bike next year , so get yer act together lads and you will get my money!!!

The idea of four strokes is interesting. I just hope they figure out how to get rid of that fours stroke lag. I've had three Honda Reflexes and everyone of them would act like it was gagging right after you wacked the throttle. I never dared try anything serious on them as I was always afraid of doing an over the bars face plant when it didn't go anywhere.

I have owned /own many four trails machines, mostly Honda RTL's and I must say that I for one am waiting the arrival of the new 4 stokes with great anticipation... They are going to be excellent for my part of the world where finding traction has been the name of the game for the past few seasons ... I like the new board by the way... VIVA ANDY...............D

i can't wait till the new 4 strokes come out

i have alot of confidence in the factorys, that they will make a machine that will out power and out perform a 2 stroke.

but im going to wait a couple years so they can get the kinks out of them first ;)

I don't like Australians - but they're still there!!! ;) They will most likely be produced anyway, why not wait until you can try one as Ishy says. If you have a lot of preconceived ideas then you are setting yourself up for a bad experience.......

I was at a local centre trial this afternoon with my old man and there were a couple of old-timers riding Tiger Cubs (remember them? I do, just!! Fantasic noise!) and 3 or 4 of the new 4-stroke Scorpas.

Afterwards, we were talking about this and me fatha came up with an obvious point, one that I'd never really considered until now: A 4-stroke is firing half as often as a 2-stroke, so how is it possible to get the same amount of instant "snap" out of a 4-stroke engine? I've been riding 4-stroke enduro bikes for years and never had a problem when whacking the throttle open to clear a log or something, but I guess that's slightly different: The engine's already turning quite a lot of revs, so the "lag" when opening the throttle is going to be measured in ten-thousandths of a second and practically imperceptible.

That's not the case on a trials bike where the engine might be just ticking over when you snap the throttle open - in this case, the lag might more of a problem!

Can any mechanically-knowlegeable person explain how this problem might be overcome? I can't see a way around it.

According to my sisters boyfriend, who is a 'know-it-all' a$$hole.

The 4 Stroke is better for trials because it is more quicker on response, and a lighter engine.

The 2 Stroke is faster and is not good for trials.

...now...the '1 stroke' is too clangy??

....?
