Did Fuji Cheat?

If not by the rules he certainly cheated eight thousand paying people

in most sports snooker, football speedway not making a genuine effort to

compete brings about a fine, disqualification or penalty of some kind.

Did the FIM really change the rules between the programe being printed and saturday night? Only three riders in the final has got to be wrong

what happens if they get to the last round and raga or example just needs a podium finish to take the overall title the championship could be sorted before the final

On a different note the presentation left alot to be desired A big screen is a must if your sat in a seat with a restricted view and interval entertainment would have been great perhaps its time avondale handed over to a company like Benfield sports

One good idea there on the seating plan - Airhorn free zones for the miserable buggers :)

That way I could let my kid go mad and get excited without having to worry about miserable sods getting uppety just because he's burst their ear drum.

They've got two for gods sake :)

Fuji didn't cheat, as a professional sportsman he made a percentage judgement which turned out to be the right one. Not good for the fans, I agree, but within the rules of the sport.

What will happen to Sheffield once 'The Master' has retired?. Will we bother turning up in droves to watch probably 6 Spanish riders and one British wild card?.

Jim Dabill's our best hope at present I suspect, he just needs consistency, the talent is there. He's only a young 'un, maybe we shouldn't put our weight of expectation on his shoulders just yet.

Have to agree with you on that point.

People seem to have short memories, only a couple of years ago there was mass 'cheating', with timeouts to fix 'bike problems' and opting out of sections.

If a section is very long and not passible it going to happen.

What would you do in the same situation, As a professional rider who makes his living from the sport ?

Miss the section take a five and get no time penalty

Ride the section get a certain five, get time penalties, miss the final and the prize money

Come on get real !

Rather than have an overall time limit break it down to say 60 seconds to do a section then 30 seconds to get to the next one. If the rider enters the section prior to start then 5 just as if they too long.

Fuji made a tactical decision based on what he needed to do to get into the final. If you are running late at a trial and need to cut and run to finish wouldn't you miss some sections?

Yes, but I wouldn't expect to get away with it completely :D

If Fuji had been riding normally and got behind time due to being stuck in a section or something - then 5'ing those sections on purpose wouldn't have looked quite as bad to the paying public...

The fact is that he rode into section 1 knowing full well that he would be missing out the two hardest sections. This gave him enough of a comfort zone to have a real crack at the other sections without having to worry about the time limit. How much better would Taddy have done if he had done the same as Fuji? :) After all, it's not like he had much of a chance of winning so he could have taken his time and enjoyed his 1st Sheffield Indoor.

Fuji didn't cheat, we all know that. He rode within the rules and took full advantage of them - it's the rules that need changing to prevent spectators being cheated of watching the current World Champion on the 2 hardest sections of the night :)

Is there not a rule already that states you must make an reasonable attempt at a section or marks are taken. Does this not apply to Indooor

Mr. Doyle, before Avondale took the financial risk and put in all the hard work there wasn't a British indoor world round.

If I remember correctly! last year the event went on very late, I would think the organizers were trying to plan the overall running time to get done before midnight to help the spectators get home, also all that equipment has to be out of there by Sunday morning.

The event has been a sellout since year one, they must be doing something right .

I also think they will of taken note of what the spectators thought of this years event and will change accordingly, unless you try new ideas how will you know?

On the Montesa, it's the first world indoor for the machine and same again until they try it in those conditions how will they know what to work on both in technique and machine performance, remember the bike was built has a trials bike, only a few people in the world will ever ride them in these conditions, No way!! would Saturdays indoor results have any bearing on if I would buy one to ride in club trials, I would go test ride the bike and see how it feels for what I would be doing on it.
