welshoneder
I've recently bought a 1999 techno, which had been stood for a few years so I've stripped top end and repalced all fluids, it now starts first kick rode it for a few hours last weekend when I changed the oil my sump plug was furry! I thought it might be some filings from the clutch plates which i filled slightly but can't remenber if the plates were ferous or not. Anyone got any ideas what could be causing the filings? or if this is normal? Thanks
stork955
Gday, if it seems fine mechanically its probably nothing to worry about. You will get some wear and tear over the years and this is the result. Id just monitor the transmission to make sure there are no unusual noises etc and not worry too much. Cheers, Stork
pete_scorpa3
Providing there are no chunks of metal, this is a fairly common occurance. The more often you change the oil the less filings you will get. The only time you need to be concerned is when there are suddenly more then normal. By the sound of it, the oil has been in there some time, I suggest that you change the oil, run the bike for an hour or two then change the oil again and have another look just to be sure.
