dac
I,m currently rebuilding my FANTIC 247 and have a question of anyone that has an original 247. I have taken the aluminium fork caps off the top of each fork leg to expose the damping rods and fork internals , the damping rods or main internal rods (not the fork tubes) are held in place by a collar that fits over the main damping rods which have a two small halfmoon collets which fit into the recess in the rod.............that bits fine. As I took them apart i noticed that on the damping fork ( found that one leg damps the other is sprung ) there was a small aluminium spacer cap that seems to sit on top of the damping rod to press/hold the collets in place and appears to be the right length to touch the top of the fork cap when its screwed back in place, which prevents the collets from moving. There wasn't a spacer/collet holder on the other leg. I'm assuming that there should be one on each side????????. Secondly, on the top of each damping rod is a threaded hole which leads me to think that there should have been an original Fantic spacer on each side that was held in place with a screw and that the spacer i have on the one side is a home made effort when the originals have been lost , can anyone help as i cannot find any diagrams of these forks on the internet.
