Ty175 Forks

Hi all,

just come in from the shed..... my project TY175 forks, are not what they seem!

The bottoms are from the TY range (probably ty175) but the fork stantions (Outside dia size are 46.5mm) do not have the standard screw thread fork cap tops they have instead a wire circlip and a plug.

does any one know if any other fork legs will fit, or can I buy new stantions? from ABE? with oil in them they seemed very bouncy!

I invested in some legs from a DT175 (early C model?) but the stantions are too short....plus I cant get the bolt loose from the bottom of one leg. No amount of swearing has budged it!

I'm wondering whether to rechrome these legs and experiment with the springs and oil weights to get near a decent feel

Cheers

Steve

You've gotten me confused here, Ty175s would have stanchions about 34mm.

Are you sure your 46.5mm diameter is not the outside of the sliders?

Tony 27 is right,46,5 that is from a modern MX bike.

46.5 is the outside oil seal size, my mistake, starting to think to far ahead. Fork outside diameter is 30mm just measured. Does this give me any options?

This bike is becoming a labour of love.
