swinny
hi, i have got a 1999 mont 315 and the front wheel seems to be loose, even when the spindle and bolts are tight ? there is only one spacer on the wheel (at the disk side i think). should there be a spacer at the other side ? or is there somethng else missing...... looked in the manual i have and the pictures are that bad i cant tell, cheers matt
spitfirepilot423
Sounds like wheel bearings need to be replaced.
swinny
ok cheers for this information i will get the checked as i dont know what to do. do you know if there should be more than 1 spacer as it seems the wheel moves from side to side slightly
spitfirepilot423
Not sure about spacers in Mont. With the front wheel off the ground, hold wheel firmly at 12.00 and 6.00 o'clock. Try to rock the wheel from side to side and check where the movement/knock is coming from. A missing spacer would allow the wheel to move along the axle (with the brake caliper removed), rather than rattle on the axle.
swinny
just checked it as you said and seems as if the bearing is fine, it moves from left to right on the spindle about 4mm
spitfirepilot423
Had quick look at Mont manual. You should have a collar/spacer on the outside of each wheel bearing, and a drive on right side for the speedo cable. If these are all in place my next move would be to have a look at another 315R to "spot the difference."
swinny
ahhhhhh that must be it there is only one spacer on and nothing on the right hand side, so must be a spacer and drive missing. . . . might sound daft question but would i still need to put a "drive" on even though its only for offroad?? think i will have to ring sanderfords up and see if i can get the part ordered there........ cheers soo far buddy great help !! spitfirepilot423
You need the missing collar but most riders will replace the drive unit with a short machined cylinder spacer. Dealer may have a kit to replace the drive unit or any machine shop will knock one out for you. Good luck.

patmustard
I think the part you need is number 21 part Number 44313-NN2-900 as shown here: Apex. Sandifords should be able to get one for you.
