Not the most successfull day out. I discovered my clutch slips and my front brake is usless.

But worst of all the bike bogged badly. I have just ordered a new HT coil in a hope this might be the problem.

Otherwise, great little bike. Although I now need a new seal for one of my rear shocks, so if your going to bin those shocks can I have first dibs as I need the seal head.

you want to fill your brake hub full of no nonsense over night to remove all the rust from the hub , fit new shoes then it will work fine . You can bye the stuff from B&Q, The clutch isn't the end of the world , better luck next time . Most of my fantic drum brakes are really good i find , the cdi coil is well worth fitting new , i payed 28 quid

Very impressed so far.

Could you give me details of how to go about the zink plating please

Yes no problem , but it,s a time consuming job to do i may add . But you first need to clean all your old parts and remove rust and zinc . This is best done with the above stuff called no nonsense and a bench grinder wire wheel . No nonsense dose exactly what it says on the tin making the job much easier , but don't leave parts in it for more than a day as they sometime blacken . You need to then buy a zinc kit from the internet and follow the instruction,s close , remember do this job outside so the fumes don't do you any harm. Where rubber gloves at all times and a face mask while using the zinc tank .

Hear,s where to get your kit at a good price and they are very helpful bye phone too. Hope this help,s

This is an economy resto , i had the levers from my cabbie 125 but the threads were stripped . With a tap and a larger screw used the are good again , i re zinc,ed the pivot bolts and adjuster,s and the levers are like new . I add the powder coat was already done a long time ago, with some polishing DONE TO the bar,s they are now like new . I found some adjuster rubber shrouds in the shed for the lever,s and a pair of fantic grip,s . The throttle was new also just sitting on the shelf . So bye doing a bit of work to these parts the bar,s are now restored ready to fit one day 8) 8)

It,s amazing what loom,s around the shed and gets forgotten about.

Well the hub,s are finished and fitted with new wheel bearings . Every nut bolt and screw are the original,s , if you look back on the photo,s you will see how poor the hubs were . I note there is rather an unusual front brake arm to this model made of steel not alloy . Its like a moped one but with the fork , i haven't ever seen one of these for sale . But this was the first trials bike fantic made in 1978 , the hubs are different too from anything else fitted to there trials bikes after.

Do you remember these , bit smash was an understatement, with some glue work to piece them back together and fibre glass re-enforcement behind them they come up like this . I did have a fair bit of filling to do as well , but i have almost no chance of finding another pair for this model as its different from the model,s that superseded. Not absolute perfect they will be acceptable and give some service to this rare trial,s model

Before

There were many more crack,s not visible in the photo,s

The finished job , just need to get someone to make up the sticker,s from the photo,s and the bits i removed with a heat gun :agreed: but that's all i have as a pattern
