smelling123
Hi, Just rebuilding a 247 Cota motor and the big end is a plain (bronze) bush. Ive never ever seen this on a 2 stroke engine. I have a new rod kit so I'll put that in, but I wondered if anyone had ever seen a Monty with a plain bush big end....seems strange, maybe the previous owner was trying to save costs or maybe Montesa did this at some stage - anyone know?? I can see how a bushed small end would be OK, as the movement is only through a small range (maybe 20 degrees per revolution) but the big end moves through 360 degrees. Having said that plenty of 4 strokes use shell type bush big ends - but are oil fed... Any comments anyone? many thanks Stu
feetupfun
I will bet that it didn't run with a plain big end for long

smelling123
Its a 21M. Im cant believe is isnt a bearing - sure someone was trying to save some cash - so Im going to put the rod kit I have in. It has run but looks recently rebuilt (but I never trust that..), so its a new rod. thanks all.
