neil king
Just picked up an '84 300. It starts pretty good, but won't run clean until the carb is almost dry. It runs good for about 10 seconds before it runs out of gas and dies. I thought maybe the float valve is leaking or floats too high but it looks like it would start running better before the carb is practically empty. It's got the stock carb, 45 pilot, needle in the lowest position. I didn't check the main jet size, but I'm no where close to needing that yet. technowaldo
sounds like it might be running way too rich especially if it starts to run fine when its running dry on fuel is ur air filter clean ?
neil king
I had to choke it to start it after running it dry. I didn't have the filter hooked up.

htrdoug
Make sure you clean out all passages in the carb completely, but I bet it's the float,A new float is only about twenty bucks ,Call Herdan Corp or go to Dellorto direct, best solution is a OKO,but I wait until you get the other stuff on the old bike sorted before spending the dough on an OKO(saw your post on ADVRider) but when you start getting her working good you definately want the OKO. neil king
I think I'm gonna let someone else deal with it. While I think it can be fixed up, there is nothing about the bike that I really like, though it would be neat if I could get a TL250 motor in it. I have a TL250 that needs more than the Fantic. neil king
It's spoken for already. I had him in mind when I bought it, thinking he would want it if I didn't. Sure enough I got a email from him when he found out I had it.
