martinm
As draining the oil via the 17mm hex head kickstart bolt seems to be a regular problem with new SWM users, here is a step by step guide how to re-set the kickstart spring. I assume you have the clutch basket off, so..... 1. Make sure the spring end is located into the hole in the crankcase and the hole in the side of the ratchet gear. 2. Grow a third arm or go and find a friend. 3.Best at this point to have the big 17mm hex head kickstart stop bolt either completely out or unscrewed until the last thread.....this is the bit you need a friend for. 4.Get a ring spanner big enough to fit over the kickstart shaft and compress the ratchet gear and spring down onto the splines on the kickstart shaft. 5. Keeping the spring compressed with the spanner, Stick the kickstart onto the splines and rotate 360 degress clockwise. 6. Get friend/third arm to screw in the 17mm bolt and slowly alow the ratchet stop to return to locate on the top of the bolt. 7. Dont test it out until you put the clutch back on as it will twang off across the floor ! 8. Remember how difficult this is and make sure you NEVER try and drain the oil via this bolt...
