Hey

Im looking at treating myself to a nice new bike for 2011, the question is what one?

I currently ride a Beta 250 Rev 3 2008 model on the C route & will be starting to try B at the next few trials, its a great bike!!! Power is smooth, great traction fairly light mmmmm why am I getting a new one lol

Ive had a spin on a 2010 Gasser light and flicky but dont know if it would be to much for a whole trial? not yet managed to blag a go on a 250 Evo.

So what do you peeps think????

I look forward to your words of wisdom

Beta all the way. Better build quality than the Gasser in my opinion. Although there are loads of Gassers at trials so people must like them. I have an EVO and will definately be getting a new one when they come out.

The ONLY person who can decide that is you...

You will get divided opinions from lots of riders.

You need to ride them both and decide.

For my money I say Gas Gas : I've gone from Gas Gas to Beta and back to Gas Gas - both will be 1000 times better than what most mere mortals can do on them, both are very rideable and very well made (ignore any comments saying Beta are better put together).

Should come down to -

1: what you like best

2: price and dealer support

If you cant decide from there then I would look at importer back up and based on this it's Beta HANDS DOWN!

John Lampkin (Beta UK) is fantastic, you could not want anymore as a backup. Will cover many parts outside of warranty, no questions asked

John Shirt (Gas Gas UK) on the other hand is (in my opinion) an absolute pain in the @rse to deal with, gives sweet FA back up, tries to get out of anything and offers (against EU laws) a 6 months warranty only.

Happy hunting.

PS: Bare in mind that the 2011 bikes are not here yet. The Gasser has a different frame (you may get to try a 2010 Raga Rep which has the new frame) but is not out yet. The Beta has not been announced but I dont think any major changes are planned.

Couldn't agree more with that, John Lampkin is an absolute fantastic chap & is always willing to help you with any concerns, But Dealing with Shirty is worse than trying to get blood out of a stone. They won't tell you anything that you need to know, & is soon as the warrenty is a 1 minute over 6 months, There not interested at all.

I would definatly suggest getting a new Evo, I have a 2010 290 and it is fantastic, never goes wrong, which is more than I can say for a Gasser, when I had my 09 300 pro to be honest it was a pile of S**t & would never have one again.

Beta All the way!!

I find this interisting that you got GasGasben on Beta's, then Beatabeta on gassers!

I think you gotta go ride some just to see what you can tolerate! There are ergonomic and other factors that come into play as well.

Do not forget to throw in a Sherco into the mix.

Factors I find to be :

Left hand kickers

Short throw shifters

Short throw kickers

Weight and ft/rear bias

Maintenance and reliability

Rattly motors

Too tight and/or springy in the steering and suspension

Steering radius too much or too little

And of course, engine power band

Now I say this purely in an effort to state points of comparison and such. My saying is Pick your Poison, and stick with it! They all have their points!

I dont know how to change my user name on here (sad but true) so it stays beatabeta

I quite like the Sherco's (except the forks) and Rathmell seems (from what I've heard) to be good but for me personally I couldn't get a Sherco with the silencer where it is..... Heard too many horror stories about them getting damaged and needing replacing - FINE when in warranty but where do you / Rathmell stand when you're out of warranty???

Heard that Cabestany had a new one EVERY DAY in Scotland!!

B@LLS to that
